Jewelry Care - This is how you do it ✨

When handled carefully, high quality jewelry can be kept beautiful for a lifetime. The right care is important because of the materials we use. Abrazi uses two types of metal as a base its jewelry: 925 sterling silver and nickel-free brass. Depending on what works best for the design, we carefully choose one or the other, after which we carefully plate our jewelry with high quality rhodium, 14k gold, or rose gold. Without proper care, the high quality plating we use will eventually fade, meaning the color and shine can become less beautiful.

Care Instructions

To ensure longevity and long lasting wear, the care instructions are always the same:

Storing Jewelry

Store your jewelry in the soft pouch of Abrazi jewelry box or in another dry, cool space where it is safe from scratches. Humid air and moisture can tarnish the plating on the long rung. Keeping your jewelry in a box also ensures that direct contact with sunlight is avoided, which could also affect the lifespan of your jewelry.

Avoid direct contact with perfume

Minimize contact with perfume and other chemicals, such as lotions and household cleaners, as chemicals can corrode the plating. Additionally, it is important to clean your jewelry after wearing them, to prevent certain substances from seeping into the material.

Clean Gently

Jewelry can develop a dull color over time due to oxidation, which can be easily resolved by polishing them. Use a soft, lint-free cloth (such as the jewelry pouch in your Abrazi jewelry box) to wipe your jewelry, preferably after each use. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly. Please find our more elaborate cleaning guide below.

Keep it dry

It’s best to remove your jewelry before showering, bathing, working out, sleeping and swimming. Be extra careful with pool water (chlorine) and sea water, as this can tarnish your jewelry.

How often should I clean my jewelry?

As often as you can, cleaning your jewelry is important. By cleaning them regularly, you ensure that oils do not seep into your jewelry, keeping them beautiful for longer.

Can I clean all my jewelry in the same way?

After each wear, gently wipe your jewelry with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils and dirt. For a deeper clean, mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water. Dip a soft cloth or a cotton ball into the solution and gently wipe the jewelry. Do not soak plated jewelry in water or cleaning solutions, as this can cause the plating to wear off.

For intricate designs, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach areas. Be gentle to avoid scratching the surface. After cleaning, rinse the jewelry with a damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Pat dry with a clean, soft cloth and ensure it is completely dry before storing.

How do I ensure that my pearl jewelry remains beautiful for as long as possible?

Just like with plated jewelry, it is important to avoid contact with oils and chemicals for pearl jewelry. Pearl jewelry, whether freshwater or Swarovski, requires care to maintain its luster. After each wear, wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove body oils, sweat, and any residue. This helps prevent the buildup of substances that can dull their shine. For a deeper clean, use a mild soap solution. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water. Dip a soft cloth or a cotton ball into the solution and gently wipe each pearl.

Never submerge pearl jewelry in water or cleaning solutions, as this can damage the thread used to string the pearls. After cleaning, rinse the pearls with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Avoid using running water to prevent excessive moisture. Lay the pearls flat on a soft towel and let them air dry completely before storing. Store pearl jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to protect them from scratches and other jewelry.
